i JUST read that all those Hubble pics are fakes. Sort of. Turns out Hubble only takes black and white photos (kind of like you girls!) and some artsy NASA type "colors" them. I think I read it on Slate.com. Sort of disappointing.
Yeah, but they are colorized based on the gases that are present, as to approximate what the photo would actually look like taken in color. Which is a little different than being photoshopped Weekly World News stylee.
Maybe you can just think of it as art, in which case art is AWESOME.
Fake Hubble pictures would be a crime. However, coloring them for our benefit makes sense to me. After all,we color old black & white movies bringing them more to life without losing the essence of them.
